Teaching of the prophet (P.B.U.H) concerning sacrificing

On the authority of Abu Yala Shaddad bin Aus ( may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The prophet ( peace and blessings of Allah be upon him ) said: Allah has made it obligatory to adopt a benevolent attitude towards everything. If you have to kill any animal kill it in the kindest way. When you have to slaughter an animal you must make it less painful for the animal you slaughter. Every one of you must get his knife sharpened to reduce the suffering of the animal to be slaughtered. (Muslim)
