Turkish Prime Minister Walked out of a Davos panel to Protest Moderator's and Peres' Attitude

DAVOS - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan walked out of a panel discussion in protest the moderator's and Israeli President Peres' attitude. Erdogan, 54, was attempting to respond to Peres the moderator cut him off. Erdogan protested that he was being given less time than Peres, said he would not return to Davos and quickly left the stage.
After relatively brief remarks from Turkish PM Erdogan, Israeli President Shimon Peres launched a lengthy and fiery defense of his country's assault on Gaza over the past month. Mr. Peres gave all the examples from Turkey and raised his voice pointing his finger Turkish prime Minister Erdogan. Mr. Peres tried to accuse and question Turkey and Turkish PM by asking what Erdogan would do if rockets were fired at Istanbul every night. The Turkish leader Erdogan furiously took notes. As the debate, which also included United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon and Arab League chief Amr Moussa, was ending, Erdogan demanded one minute to respond. The moderator granted Erdogan a moment to reply to Peres, but then cut him off shortly after when Turkish leader was trying to respond. It is reported that the moderator was also not kind enough towards Prime Minister Erdogan.

"I don't think I will come back to Davos because you don't let me speak," the Turkish prime minister said, as he stood up and walked out of the conference hall in the Swiss ski resort.

Erdogan said Mr Peres had spoken so loudly to conceal his "guilt".

The Turkish prime minister Tayyip Erdogan later complained that he was given just 12 minutes to speak while the Israeli president was given nearly half an hour. "The president spoke for only 25 minutes. I have only spoken for half of that" he added. He said his frustration was aimed at the moderator and not at Jews or the Israeli people.

Turkey's state-run Anatolian news agency quoted Erdogan as saying to Peres: "When it comes to killing you know very well how to kill. I know very well how you killed children on the beaches."

In a hastily-called news conference, Erdogan later explained that he had been upset with both the moderation of the debate and Peres' manner.

"My reaction was directed at the moderator. I think that if we have moderation in this way, we won't really get out of Davos what we all come here to get out of Davos, and it would cast a shadow over efforts to reach peace," Erdogan said.

"President Peres was speaking to the prime minister of Turkey -- I am not just some leader of some group or tribe, so he should have addressed me accordingly," he told reporters.

Thousands march to celebrate victory against IOF invasion

source//

GAZA, (PIC)-- Tens of thousands of Palestinians marched in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday to celebrate victory despite the vast destruction inflicted by the Israeli occupation forces' war machine.

Hamas called for the demo after the noon prayers in all areas of the Strip in a bid to display popular backing to resistance.

The march started from the UNRWA-run Fakhoura School in Jabalia refugee camp north of Gaza in which 45 Palestinians were killed and 150 others wounded in an IOF barbaric shelling of the school that was housing civilians seeking refuge.

The march headed to the home of Dr. Nizar Rayyan, the Hamas leader who was killed in an IOF savage bombardment of his home that killed him along with all his family including 9 children.

A number of Hamas leaders took part in the marches that also hit the streets of Gaza city, Khan Younis, Rafah, Deir Al-Balah, Nusseirat and Breij.

The participants hoisted the green flags of Hamas and chanted slogans in support of resistance.

Hamas Claims 'Victory' In Gaza

Hamas's armed wing claims it lost only 48 fighters in the 22-day war with Israel in Gaza, as the fragile ceasefire held for a second night.

* The Palestinian militant group's armed wing also vowed to fight on unless Israel withdraws all its troops from the Palestinian territory.
*
* "We announce to our people the martyrdom of 48 Qassam fighters," Abu Obeida, spokesman for the Ezzedine Al-Qassam Brigades, said in a televised press conference.
*
* He also said Hamas inflicted heavy losses on Israeli forces and killed 80 soldiers and injured many others.
*
* The Jewish state says it wants its soldiers to withdraw from Gaza as quickly as possible after claiming it had met its objectives in the three-week war.
*
*
But the Hamas leadership declared a "great victory" over the Zionist armada following the unilateral ceasefire on Sunday.
*
* Hamas leader Ismail Haniya said: "God has granted us a great victory, not for one faction, or party, or area, but for our entire people.
*
* "We have stopped the Zionist aggression and the enemy has failed to achieve any of its goals," he stressed.
*
* As the Islamist Hamas movement and other militant groups also announced a week-long truce of their own, the guns on both sides fell silent giving Gaza's traumatised population a second night of relative peace.
*
*
Israel has said it wants to leave Gaza as quickly as possible after its most deadly offensive there which reduced much of the enclave to ruins.
*
* The truce ends three weeks of bloodshed which has claimed the lives of more than 1,300 civilians including babies, children, women and elderly people while causing mass destruction.
*
*
French President Nicolas Sarkozy hailed Israel's ceasefire but said it was "only a first step" and must go further.
*
* "We should immediately convene a major international conference which would allow us to establish peace this year," Mr Sarkozy said.
* Gordon Brown, the UK Premier, urged Israel to reopen the crossings to long-blockaded Gaza, saying a sustainable ceasefire would require "humanitarian access" to the territory.

Algerians voice anger on Gaza

http://www.echoroukonline.com/eng/topnews/4496.html

Some 500,000 people took to the streets in the Algerian capital Algiers after Friday’s prayer to protest against Israel’s offensive in Gaza which killed more than 700 Palestinians so far.

*
The protesters condemned the Israeli crimes and called for supporting the Palestinian resistance and Gaza’s people.
*
They marched to the main avenues in the city criticising Arab governments and describing them as “betrayers.”
*
Some of them were stopped by anti-riot forces while other demonstrators continued their march in some areas in Algiers.
*
The government banned demonstrations in 2001 following bloody clashes between security forces and protestors in a demonstration organised by Berber activists.
*
In other Algerian provinces, people also demonstrated in support of Palestinians.
*
President of the International Union for Muslim Scholars Youssef El Karadaoui had urged Muslims to make Friday an international day in support of Gaza.

A reality..

Israel closes in on Gaza City

Israel closes in on Gaza City

Large explosions and ground battles were reported close to the centre of Gaza City overnight [AFP]

Israeli troops have tightened their military grip on the Gaza Strip as the war on Gaza enters its 11th day.

Air and naval bombardments killed 45 Palestinians on Monday, bringing to 548 the number of Palestinians killed since the offensive began on December 27.

Three Israeli soldiers were killed and 24 wounded in the battles around Gaza City on Monday night, the Israeli military said early on Tuesday.

The military said an errant tank shell fired by its own forces hit the soldiers' position.

The deaths were the biggest blow to Israel's military since it launched its ground assault on Saturday, with only one other soldier killed in the previous two days.

Nonetheless, witnesses told Al Jazeera that the Israeli ground offensive was closing in on Gaza City, where Israel believes most of the Hamas leadership to be.

Large explosions and intense ground battles close to the centre of the city in the eastern neighbourhood of Shejaiya, were reported late on Monday and into the early hours of Tuesday.

A spokesman for the al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement, told Al Jazeera that Israeli tanks were trying to move into Gaza City.

He said that the group's fighters had destroyed an Israeli armoured personnel carrier in the clashes.

Al Jazeera's Ayman Mohyeldin, reporting from the Gaza Strip, said that much of the fighting was taking place around a high area on the outskirts of the city.

The area gives an overview of the entire northern part of Gaza, which would be strategically useful to the Israeli military, and because of its height and elevation, it had probably also been used to fire rockets into Israel, our correspondent said.

Fierce fighting between Israeli troops and Palestinian fighters was also reported in eastern Jabaliya in the northern Gaza Strip.

'Missiles everywhere'

Moussa el-Hadda, a retired doctor in the Gaza Strip, said "all of Gaza is dark except for the flares fired by F-16s and Apache [attack helicopters]".

Flares lit up Gaza City as Israel used artillery, fighter jets and attack helicopters [AFP]
"The F-16s for the first time are flying very low and shooting missiles everywhere.

"Nobody can leave their home, we have no shelters and Israel knows this. They just bombed everywhere and most of their bombs are hitting houses," he told Al Jazeera.

Earlier, Ehud Barak, the Israeli defence minister, told members of parliament that Gaza City was partially surrounded.

"We have hit Hamas hard, but we have not yet reached all the goals that we have set for ourselves," he said.

Dozens of Palestinians were reported to have been detained during the Israeli push into the Gaza Strip, with Israel saying they were Hamas fighters.

Hamas confident

Despite 10 days of constant bombardment of the Gaza Strip by the Israeli military, a senior Hamas official said on Monday that "victory is coming" for Palestinian fighters.

Mahmoud al-Zahar said that the movement's armed wing had "given the most beautiful performances during its confrontation with the army that the world thought invincible".

"We will defeat it, God willing," he said.

Israeli officials say the assault on Gaza is aimed at stopping Hamas from firing rockets into southern Israel.

Al-Zahar warned that Israel's war on Gaza had opened it up to retribution by Palestinian fighters.

"They have legitimised the murder of their own children by killing the children of Palestine," he said.

"They have legitimised the destruction of their synagogues and their schools by hitting our mosques and our schools."

'Fewer rockets'

Palestinian fighters have continued to fire rockets into southern Israel despite the Israeli military offensive.

But Major Avital Leibovitch, an Israeli military spokeswoman, told Al Jazeera that the cross-border attacks were being slowed.

"Those rockets are coming less and less, because today we have had approximately 20 launchings which is one-tenth of Hamas's original launching capabilities ... there are signs that Hamas is weakening," she said.

"The second stage of the operation is going as planned, we have a variety of forces joining in this and it is proceeding according to the plan."

Abu Obeida, the spokesman for Hamas's military wing, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, warned the Israeli military that it had many fighters ready to face it in the Gaza Strip.

"We have prepared thousands of brave fighters who are waiting for you in each corner of the street and will welcome you with fire and iron," he said.

"As long as the aggression intensifies, your losses will increase and you will sink further into the Gaza quagmire."

THE "GOD" THAT NEVER WAS

Part 5

The "GOD" ON THE RUN

"God" Was Panic-Stricken: "After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for
he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him." (John, 7:1)

"God" Walked in Fear of the Jews: "Then from that day forth they took
counsel together for to put him to death. Jesus therefore walked no more
openly among the Jews." (John, 11:53-54)

"God" Has Shown a Clean Pair of Heels: "Therefore they sought again to take
him: but he escaped out of their hand." (John, 10:39)

"God" Fled in Disguise: "Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus
hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and
so passed by." (John, 8:59)

THE CAPTURE OF "GOD"

A Friend Betrayed the Secret Hiding Place of "God": "And Judas also, which
betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus off-times resorted thither with his
disciples. Judas then, having received a band of man and officers from the
chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and
weapons." (John, 18:2-3)

"God" Was Arrested, Bound and Led Away: "Then the band and the captain and
officers of the Jews took Jesus, and bound him, and led him away." (John,
18:12-13)

"God" Was Humiliated: "And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and smote
him. And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face."
(Luke, 22:63-64). "Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and
others smote him with the palms of their hands." (Matthew, 26:67)

"God" Was Defenseless: "One of the officers which stood by struck Jesus with
the palm of his hand", he said: "Why smitest thou me?" (John, 18:22-23)

"God" Was Condemned to Death: "And they all condemned him to be guilty of
death." (Mark, 14:64). "They answered and said, he is guilty of death."
(Matthew, 26:66)

The Dumb and Docile "God": "He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like
a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth." (Acts, 8:32)

THE SUPPOSED END OF "GOD"

The Dying "God": "And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost."
(Mark, 15:37)

The "God" That Was Supposed Dead and Defunct: "Christ died." (Romans, 5:6).
"He was dead". (John, 19:33)

The Supposed Corpse of "God": "he (Joseph of Arimathaea) went to Pilate, and
begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered."
(Matthew, 27:58)

The Shroud of "God": "And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a
clean linen cloth." (Matthew, 27:59)

The Orbituary of The Late And Lamented "God": "Now when the centurion saw
what was done, he glorified God, saying, certainly this was a righteous man."
(Luke, 23:47)

EPILOGUE

According to this self-appointed apostle of Christ, Jesus is God because: (i)
"HE SHARED THE NATURE OF GOD", and (ii) because "IN EVERY WAY HE IS LIKE
GOD". But according to the quotations of the Bible given above, we find that
Jesus did neither SHARE THE NATURE OF GOD nor is he IN EVERY WAY LIKE GOD.
He is, therefore, definitely NOT God! The onus to prove that Jesus is God
now rests with this Christian. Either he must prove that Jesus is God, or he
must admit that he is a polytheist, i.e., a believer in more than one God.
WITH ALL THE TRICKS AND VERBAL LEGERDEMAIN OF HIS PROFESSION, HE WILL NEVER
BE ABLE TO PROVE THAT JESUS IS GOD!!

He and his fellow-preachers in Christ, will never succeed in convincing the
Muslims that Jesus was anything other than a natural man and a prophet of
God, sent unto the house of Israel to bear the good news of the coming of the
KINGDOM OF GOD, which prophecy was fulfilled with the advent of the Holy
Prophet Muhammed (Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)!
