Muhammed the prophet

In this way, the first communication between the heavens and the earth started a communication that lasted 23 years. In this place –Hira- the heavens embraced the earth, the light of the heavens met with the light of the earth. But what is the signification of that embrace? And why was the start with Iqra [i.e. Read]

MUHAMMED THE MAN

We have seen ,so far, that all the existing factors in the world ,before the Prophet, (SAWS) were dictating one fact: the need of a reformer. Allah prepared the world, the continent, the peninsula and even the family – of the Prophet – for the “Prophet” (SAWS). The life of Muhammad (SAWS), the man, was a kind of divine preparation for the divine message; the message to last until the end of the time.

Muhammed the greatest

Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) changed the history of this planet. His effect was far reaching: the Arab world, Andalusia, the Soviet Republics have changed. Two global powers, the Persians and the Romans were destroyed. His effect reached Europe, which built its own revival exploring the Arab culture and sciences and learnt from Islam the ethical principles of equality, liberty, and justice, and introduced women and children’s rights and brought an end to slavery...

ON THE PATH OF THE BELOVED TEACHER

by: Tiaiba Imane

"On the Path of the Beloved, the Teacher of Teachers" is a research about Prophet's Muhammad (PBUH) biography in the secular life, in other words; it is the study of the experiment of the Prophet (PBUH) in reforming on Earth. This research is an attempt to supply some answers about not only how to reform and benefit from our educational system, but also how to make a revival to the Islamic nation following the footsteps of the Prophet (PBUH).
We will try to have a look on the world, but from where shall we start? Let us see the world, then the Arabian Peninsula and finally Makkah. The world was under the power of two great empires; the Persians and the Romans. There were two imperialistic states, and injustice become widespread. Taxes were extremely high, racial and religious persecutions were enforced.Injustice was widespread. People lived in shocking poverty while the leaders lived in opulence. In the Roman Empire, this led to cruel forms of entertainment such as gladiators fighting lions. The Persians, on the other hand, were responsible for the worst class system ever witnessed in history with a huge gap between the richest the poorest; nobility, clergymen then the worthless mass.Europe was enduring its darkest ages. Ignorance was widespread and there was even a paper discussing whether a woman was a human being or an animal, whether she had the right to inherit or to own property. Polygamy was common. The English historian Wells said: "The world has never witnessed in the history a darker, worse, more desperate era than the 6th century AD. The world was totally paralyzed, and Europe resembled a decaying of a giant man". This is the world at the time of the birth of the Prophet (P.B.U.H) . Wells then ends his words saying, "Until Muhammad, the Prophet of Muslims, appeared". The world was a more hostile place during his time; we have many bases to rely upon. Therefore, we should never lose hope. We should not despair from our situation; we should make the effort .The Prophet started alone and within 20 years he changed the face of earth . Twenty years of planning , hard work , learning and sacrifice . May be this helps to understand the ayah: "And in no way have we sent you export as a mercy to the world" (TMQ, 21: 108).Here, I would like to point out that this is how the era is viewed from one angle , however it cannot be so , other wise those empires would not have risen. The reality is that as generations passed, they brought with them the downfall of those empires .Every civilization has a beginning and an end and 570 AD was its end.The empires had their heydays then crumbled. Thus, Allah sent from our desert a man to bring reform based on truth and justice .The Romans and the Persians fell dawn because of injustice and our civiliztion rose because of justice and fairness. Then, the wheel of history turned and we fell down when we let go of justice and fairness , and Europe rose because it upheld some of these aspects . This does not mean we approve everything there. The point is if we were to say that every thing is wrong and we are right, our reform will require a constant struggle with the West. However, it does not need to be this way. You will not find the word “struggle” in Qur’an but the word “competition”. We want a healthy competition based on reform and self-esteem.When we move to the Arabian Peninsula, we remark that it consisted of despaired tribes in conflict with each other: looting, kidnapping for slavery , etc… As for religion , there were 360 statuses of gods on the top of the ka'ba.Women had no financial right of inheritance or worshiping. A woman was even part of the inheritance , except for those of some noble families. Khadidja was not like this nor Amina bint Wahb. Moreover, the practice of burying girls alive was common. Some companions of the Prophet buried up to seven daughters before Islam, and never cry enough afterwards for what they had done. Allah said what can be translated as " And when one of them is given the tidings of ( the birth )of a female , his face lingers ended and he is ever repressed ( with sorrow ). He hides himself from ( literally ; over lays himself beyond ) ( the sight ) of people because of the odious tiding ( given ) him , whether he should retain it in degradation or shove it in the dust .Verity , odious is (the way ) they judge ! "(TMQ: 16; 58 – 59).There might be wisdom behind the death of the Prophet's sons and not daughters. Let us see Makkah now. Makkah was an metropolis trade city all the caravans passed by Makkah . What where the winter and summer caravans? Merchandise came from China to Yemen through the Arabian Peninsula and the traders of Quraysh then reached the Levant. Quraysh was the link between the Romans and the Persians. Therefore, Makkah was an influent city and its traders were some of the wealthiest in the world. Makkah was also the centre of religious destinations, because of the Ka'ba .This brought about cultural exchanges and more trade and wealth. Makkah was also a cultural centre of media. Poets used to gather in Okkadh Souk( public market) to recite poetry. Moreover, Makkah was the safest place in the Peninsula because it was the leading city of the Arabs. Allah Says what can be translated as " And have they not seen that we have made a sanctuary secure, and mankind are snatched away all round about them? Do they then believe in the favor of Allah?" (TMQ 29.67).There was also a basic parliament in Makkah called Dar An-Nadwa , where the heads of tribes met to make decisions together . There were 360 statues of gods above the Ka'ba , but not because the Makkans worshipped all of them . It was a financial agreement with the surrounding tribes .The tribes would guarantee the safe passage of their trade caravans from Yemen to the Levant, in return they would be rewarded with a prestigious place for their gods above the Ka'ba. This is all Satan's doing because he knows that your instincts will guide you to the right path. You would eventually realize that this god is merely a stone; therefore, he links it to your financial interests. Hence, when the Prophet asked to worship none but Allah, he was jeopardizing their trade , profits , leadership and importance .Satan has done it before and is still doing it : he puts your interests on one hand and the truth on the other. Therefore, never put your interests before the truth. This was ,in general, the situation of the world before the birth of the Prophet. When we compare it to ours we will, no doubt, find nearly the some thing. Both worlds are suffering from the absence of justice and fairness. The only known language is the one of power. Moreover, personal interests are put before truth, and the bitter fact that we cannot escape is that our nation is in the tail of nations. Above all, it is obvious that both worlds are in need of a reformer to change the face of earth, and to bring peace and right to the universe. Who in the world can do this? What are his characteristics? How would he start the reformation?

THE NIGHT OF POWER

This surat is titled Surat Al-Qadr meaning 'The night of power'. It is the 97th surat from the 114 contained in the Holy Quraan. Said to be revealed in Makkah, some hold the opinion that it was revealed in Madinah. The subject-matter is the Night of Power (or Honour), in which Revelation came down to the Prophet for the first through the Angel Jibrail (Gabriel)
"We have indeed revealed this in the 'Night of Power'"One of the most meritous aspects of Islam fall in one of the last 5 odd nights of the Holy month of Ramadhan. It is the most blessed night of the year. Reference here is made to the fact that on this special night the Holy Quraan was revealed. One reason this night is referred to as the Night of Power is due to the increase in the amount of reward gained by worship performed on this particular night in comparison to any other throughout the whole year.
"And what will explain to you what the night of power is?" The question being asked here is: "Have you any knowledge as to how great and important this night is, and to the favours and bounties which are placed within the Night of Power"?
"The Night of Power is better than a thousand months" This verse means that the worship performed in this night brings more reward than the worship performed in a thousand months, but how much more better? Allah is such a great being that anything is possible from his behalf.
"Therein come down The Angels and the Spirit By Allah's permission, on every errand" The Angels descend by Allah's permission and the Spirit mentioned here is usually understood to be the angel Gabriel
"Peace!...This until the rise of Morn!" When the Night of spiritual darkness is dissipated by the glory of Allah, a wonderful peace and sense of security arise in the soul, and this lasts on until this life closes, and the glorious day of the new world dawns, when everything will be on a different plane, and the chequered nights and days of this world will be even less than a dream.
Conclusion Traditions of the Final Prophet mention that, in this night Allah the Al-Mighty directs His mercy towards His slaves, supplications made by His servants are granted and the Al-Mighty forgives large number of people who repent. This night is meant for developing a special connection with one's Creator, for making contact with the Lord of the universe. So please your Lord so that He is pleased with you, and there is surely nothing better than the pleasure of your Lord. This is amongst the many bounties that Allah the Most Glorious has blessed us with, we should grasp this opportunity and ask for guidance from the All Forgiving and All Merciful, from which we will achieve a good life in earth and more importantly a better life in the hereafter.
"Which of your Lord's favours will you deny?"

?What is the purpose of life- Khalid Yassin

I am honored to have this opportunity and I would like to begin by saying that all of you have an equal responsibility. That responsibility is to listen with an open heart and an open mind. In a world filled with prejudice and cultural conditioning, it is very hard to be able to find people to take a moment to think about life objectively and try to arrive at the truth about this world and the real purpose of our lives... view more

FASTING & RAMADAN

"Oh you who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that you may learn piety and rightousness. And it is better for you that ye fast, if ye only knew." [Quran 2:183-4]
********************
Narrated by Abu Huraira (Radhiallaho anho):
The Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) said, "Whoever established prayers on the night of Qadr out of sincere faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven; and whoever fasts in the month of Ramadan out of sincere faith, and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven." [Bukhari Vol. 3 : No. 125]
********************
Narrated by Sahl (Radhiallaho anho):
The Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) said, "There is a gate in Paradise called Ar-Raiyan, and those who observe fasts will enter through it on the Day of Resurrection and none except them will enter through it. It will be said, 'Where are those who used to observe fasts?' They will get up, and none except them will enter through it. After their entry the gate will be closed and nobody will enter through it." [Bukhari Vol. 3 : No. 120]
********************
Narrated by Abu Huraira (Radhiallaho anho):
The Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) said, "Whoever does not give up forged speech and evil actions, Allah is not in need of his leaving his food and drink (i.e. Allah will not accept his fasting.)" [Bukhari Vol. 3 : No. 127]
********************
On the last day of one Sha'ban, Prophet Muhammad (saws), gave a Khutbah about the upcoming month of Ramadan. It is a very important Khutbah that we should carefully read before every Ramadan to prepare ourselves mentally for the sacred month.
It begins:
"Oh people! A great month is coming to you. A blessed month. A month in which there is one night that is better than a thousand months. A month in which Allah has made it compulsory upon you to fast by day, and voluntary to pray by night.
Whoever draws nearer to Allah by performing any of the voluntary good deeds in this month shall receive the same reward as is there for performing an obligatory deed at any other time. And whoever discharges an obligatory deed in this month shall receive the reward of performing seventy obligations at any other time.
It is the month of Sabr (patience), and the reward for sabr is Heaven. It is the month of kindness and charity. It is a month in which a believer's sustenance is increased.
Whoever gives food to a fasting person to break his fast, shall have his sins forgiven, and he will be saved from the Fire of Hell, and he shall have the same reward as the fasting person, without the latter's reward being diminished at all." [Narrated by Ibn Khuzaymah]
